Will Coaching Work For Me?
What should I expect in a coaching session?
During our sessions, you'll find a nurturing environment where you can openly share your concerns and challenges.
Our initial conversations will delve into understanding your background, present circumstances, and the reasons that led you to seek life coaching.
Together, we'll explore your emotions, behaviors, and symptoms, pinpointing the root causes of your challenges. Each session is crafted to cater to your individual needs, employing a range of techniques best suited for your situation.
Our journey will be a collaborative one, setting goals and crafting strategies to address your concerns. Rest assured, our interactions will always be in a space marked by confidentiality and devoid of judgment, ensuring you always feel at ease expressing yourself.
Will you keep everything I say confidential?
Confidentiality is a key principle in life coaching. As a coach, I am committed to maintaining the privacy of all client conversations and information. Just like in therapy, the only exceptions to confidentiality are specific situations where there is a legal obligation to disclose, such as when there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, including cases of abuse or self-harm. Additionally, if required by a court order, certain information may need to be shared. Outside of these exceptions, everything shared in coaching sessions remains confidential.
It's important to note that the trust and safety of the therapeutic relationship is built on confidentiality, and maintaining confidentiality is a top priority of mine.
How long will I need to attend sessions?
The duration of your sessions can vary depending on your individual needs and goals. Some people may only need a few sessions to address a specific concern, while others may require more long-term therapy to address deeper, underlying issues.
It's important to discuss your goals and expectations at the beginning of our work together to get an idea of the potential length of your sessions.Â
In general, some common factors that can influence the length of coaching include:
- The severity and complexity of your concerns.
- Your motivation and commitment to make changes.
- Your willingness to engage in the process.
- Your availability to attend sessions regularly.
I will work with you to develop a treatment plan and regularly assess your progress to determine the appropriate length of your sessions. I may recommend adjustments based on your progress and changing needs.
Coaching is a collaborative process, and you can discuss your goals and preferences with your me to your individual needs.
How often should I attend coaching sessions?
The frequency of your sessions for recovery from narcissistic abuse can depend on various factors, including the severity and complexity of the abuse, the individual's needs and goals, and my recommendations.
In general, weekly therapy sessions are recommended for individuals recovering from narcissistic abuse, particularly in the early stages of working together. This can provide a consistent and supportive space for individuals to process their experiences, explore their emotions, and work towards healing and recovery.
However, the frequency of sessions can vary based on individual circumstances. Some individuals may benefit from more frequent sessions, while others may require less frequent sessions as they progress in their recovery.
It's important to note that recovery from narcissistic abuse can be a complex and challenging process, and the length and frequency of sessions can vary depending on the individual's progress and needs.
How do I know if you are the right coach for me?
The most important factor in making progress in healing from narcissistic abuse is the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the individual and their counsellor.
Narcissistic abuse can be complex and traumatic, and individuals who have experienced it often require a safe and supportive space to process their experiences and work towards healing and recovery. A coach who has expertise in narcissistic abuse can provide this space and help individuals develop the coping skills and emotional resilience needed to heal from the effects of the abuse.
For our work together to be effective to be effective, it's crucial that you feel comfortable and safe. This requires a trusting and collaborative relationship where you feel heard, understood, and supported. When there is a strong therapeutic relationship, the individual is more likely to feel empowered to explore their emotions and work through the trauma of narcissistic abuse.
Your comfort and well-being are paramount. If at any point you feel that our sessions aren't the right match for you, please know it's perfectly okay to step back. Always prioritize what feels right for you.
Will coaching covered by my health insurance?
No, my session is not covered by health insurance as I am not under the Medicare Rebate scheme.
What should I do if I feel uncomfortable during sessions?
It can be helpful to prepare for the session by thinking about what you want to talk about and what you hope to achieve. This can help you feel more focused and prepared and can help you make the most of our time together.
Set realistic expectations: It's important to have realistic expectations about what coaching can achieve. Healing and recovery take time, and progress may not happen as quickly as you might like. It's important to be patient and to trust the process.
Practice self-care: Prior to attending sessions, it's important to prioritize self-care. This can include getting enough sleep, eating well, exercising regularly, and engaging in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment. This can help you feel more resilient and better able to cope with the emotional challenges of therapy.
If you have concerns or questions about therapy, don't be afraid to communicate these with your therapist. They are there to support you and can provide guidance and reassurance as needed.
Overall, preparing for your sessions and taking care of yourself prior to attending sessions can help you feel more comfortable and confident in this process.
How can I make the most of my sessions?
This is a safe and confidential space where you can be yourself and speak your mind. You can be honest about your thoughts and feelings, even if they are difficult to express. I understand the path you have travelled.Â
Set specific, achievable goals for each session. This can help you stay focused and motivated and can give you a sense of progress and accomplishment.
You may learn new coping strategies, communication skills, or other tools to help you manage difficult emotions or situations. Try to practice what you learn outside of your sessions and report back on how it went.
Be patient with yourself: Youâve been thinking, feeling, and responding in certain ways for many years. True healing and growth take time. Change doesnât happen overnight- but every small step forward matters. Trust the process, stay committed, and know that real progress is being made even when you canât see it yet.
This is a collaborative process, and I am there to support you. However, ultimately, it's up to you to take responsibility for your own healing and growth.
Attend sessions regularly: Attend sessions as regularly as possible, and don't miss sessions unless it's necessary. Consistency is key.
Give feedback: Let me know how you feel about the process and how it's working for you. This can help me adjust my approach and tailor the things to your specific needs.
